How Does The Arizona Draw Work?

Arizona is the second state to come live in 2023 for their draw applications. As we went over in last month's post, Wyoming began the year with a Bang! Elk applications were the only species we could submit for and the due date was Jan 31. Now, we embark on Arizona with only 2 species available for current applications and those are Pronghorn and Elk.

These 2 species are iconic in the state of Arizona as they are both trophy quality species that the state manages very well. I would have to say, the entire state is just fantastic when it comes to great hunting opportunities. Also, your chances of coming home with a really amazing experience, trophy, and meat is very high.

I have outlined how the draw process works in this video below. A few things to note, the draw process is separated by different species. Elk, Deer and Pronghorn are all on the same style draw process that matches what the video describes. The applications are coming due soon, February 14th. However, Deer is not part of this draw cycle and will be completed later in the spring.

In Arizona, you are required to have a valid hunting license before you can apply in the draw or get out in the field. If you happen to have the license and don't want to feel like it has gone to waste, here are some opportunities to consider.

  • Coyote Hunting

  • Rabbit

  • Grouse

  • Dove

  • Pheasant

  • Quail

  • Sandhill Crane

  • Chukar

  • Tree Squirrel

  • Fishing

  • OTC Turkey (select units)

  • Utilize the license to apply for more species!

Take a look at the video below and make sense of the draw if you wondered how it worked or felt confused by some the data.

We have more exciting states and species coming soon and I couldn't be more excited to get those applications rolling for clients! (And myself... Kid on Xmas day kind of feeling)

If you have questions or think about hunt planning your tag application strategy please head over to the services page and book a time to connect.

Until Next Time, Remember to Scout, Hunt, Repeat

Cheers,

Alex
